Excellent Board Meeting.  Very informative presentation by Bill Ellis.  Lots of information regarding the water licence issue and the stand the Board of Trustees have taken to date.  Very different from the 'spin' we've read lately in the local papers.

March 20, 2012 Update

There is talk of someone challenging Alan Webb for the Trustee position coming up April 21, 2012.  That's good news.  Elections should be interesting and you need more than one candidate to stir interest.  Time is running out - should hear this week.  If I was a candidate, these are a few things I would fight for:

• Throw out the ridiculous "negotiated" Water Agreement with Kensington Island Properties behind closed doors with 2 of the Board Trustees unaware a 'negotiator' had been appointed.  Three elected Trustees intentionally preventing the other Trustees from obtaining information vital to our community.  Water - again, it's always been about the water.
• Employ a real 'Negotiator' who will be expected to obtain the best outcome for all of Union Bay instead of the 'giveaway' that took place because of ignorance.  Why should we pay the price?
• Ensure employees are trained in the basics of the powers they have and their limitations.  Ensure employees can be professional performing their duties.
•  Push for log books to determine how much time and money is actually required to run the district.
• I'd tell you the truth!

This is the time to ask the candidates questions and review TAG as a watchdog group controlled by our government.

A couple of questions I believe deserve an open and honest answer.  Are these questions inappropriate, if so , why?  Everyone makes mistakes.  It's how they deal with those mistakes.  Admit, apologize and move on or spend their time trying to cover up/divert, etc.   More to come....

• Did the existing 5 elected Trustees discuss advising the public of a legal decision with false information at a caucus meeting of TAG?
• Did anyone from TAG or on behalf of TAG speak to a candidate in the October 2011 by-election influencing the withdrawal of the candidate?

It's that time of year.  I'm surprised how quiet things are as residents believe all is well and are once again content to sit back and believe they are being told everything.

As usual, I have a number of questions, including ones which have already been deemed as inappropriate - translation - dirty little secrets.

The individuals who control TAG have blessed Alan Webb with their nomination, and are hoping no one else will run.  

I never like any one group or one person in control.  Now that we have all five Trustees as TAG members, they represent a political party.  The focus stays on maintaining control of the Board instead of the focus being on what is best for the community.  Decisions have been made in the past based on an election rather than on the facts and situation, costing the community money and unnecessary anxiety.

It doesn't seem to strike anyone odd that the same individual controls TAG and the information its members receive, is the same individual who is the Chair of the Union Bay Improvement District, and recently advised TAG members there were no issues at this time.    Am I missing something?

March 18, 2012 update:

The TAG political party hasn't had a meeting since Feb. 28, 2012.  At that meeting all Trustees stated they were backing away from TAG and wouldn't be attending steering committee meetings, but would remain members.  They didn't like me stating that the same people control TAG.

So here is your proof.  The same people/person runs and controls TAG and presently holds the position of Chair of the Union Bay Improvement District.

The TAG controllers advise members of what they want them to know.  Have members been advised of all information or are they being fed certain information while keeping secret matters that might change the outcome of their plans?  

Why didn't TAG rally its members when they received documents from two of TAG's duly elected Trustees proving our government was in fact dysfunctional and no longer operating as a Board?  Why did the Leader of TAG deliberately keep that information from its members since she had it typed up and ready to distribute?  What changed her mind?  A draft copy was sent to me and a few days later I received an email from the Leader of TAG asking me to delete it.  The Leader of TAG (now Chair of UBID) could have supported Bruce and Cleve but instead, left them to defend themselves alone which was a complete about face from the constant nattering about attending meetings and supporting our Trustees.  Best Bullshit Award. 

When we were illegally locked out by our government why didn't TAG rally its members to protest this complete loss of democracy?

Why did the leaders of TAG sit on their asses from January 2011 until April 2011 and do absolutely nothing for our community?

We have been fed more bullshit folks - just another example of those who must have absolute power and control.  That's why nothing happened until April 2011.  We do not have an open honest an accountable government.  

We have those who will not give up control of TAG and information is being kept from us because of the connection with the Chair of UBID.  

Apparently, they're doing a Charlton Heston about turning over the email addresses.

This email brings back memories of the Fake Union Bay Residents' Association (KIP's Puppets).  I received emails until I asked "who made the decision to use Langley Lake if the referendum outcome was "Yes"?   President and Founder Susan Hargreaves refused to ever answer that simple question.

Although I wasn't a member of TAG, I would receive the info put out by TAG, UNTIL I asked questions.  No more emails.

I'm not a flunky to anyone.  I will believe you until I have reason not to.  When I have reason to believe there is deception - I will absolutely be asking questions. 

My most effective questions are ones I already know the answer.

Well, it looks like I made a big mistake.  Turns out the TAG meeting was for members only.  These guys don't like me asking questions either - go figure.

It's what I do.

The member who was chairing the meeting didn't approve of my concerns over the TAG website being controlled (owned) by the present Chair of the Union Bay Improvement District and her spouse (unelected).  My very direct question which was "You still control it (TAG)?"   The response I received was shrugged shoulders as though they had no knowledge of anything regarding ownership.  It's those questions - when I already know the answer.

It is my opinion that the responsibility to keep the community informed should not rest with one individual.  We have already lived through that - why are we willing to repeat it?

I love watching people stand up and try to convince everyone how wonderful they are.  How they've worked so hard on behalf of everyone, it was such a struggle, but they hung in .........blah blah blah.   

Yes, and so it went.  I thought it would be about how things would change from the 'regular old ways'.  No - it's business as usual.  

I've had many of my questions answered (not by the new board), but the one I have asked so many times and still have not received an answer which can be relied upon.  The question is:  What is the policy regarding correspondence sent to the Board? 

AND

How come the Chair becomes King or Queen?

I can't find anything in the bylaws.

Hey - how come Leo was there - he told me he wasn't a member!

There are a couple of sniggly things that keep running through my mind.  The thing I perceive as 'screwing with democracy' by manipulating a candidate to withdraw.  And, that (now famous) caucus meeting. 

 Oh god - I'm just itching to make fun of the power point presentation - holding it in.............aaaaaaaagaggggghghhhhhhhhh
