I have been following this story of Bridgetown, Nova Scotia. Criminal charges have now been filed.

How often do communities suffer because of a few individuals? People put in positions by friends, relatives, with no experience or aptitude. Walkerton is always the best example of what can go wrong. Couple of brothers, not very bright - too dumb to realize they were incapable of keeping the water supply safe.
Too dumb to ever doubt themselves. Look at the devastation caused by incompetents who hang on to jobs they were never qualified for.
Union Bay needs to have a good look at the individuals employed. Do we have individuals employed simply because they are friends/relatives? Are these individuals really qualified for their positions? Do they possess even basic common sense about the limits of their authority or have any knowledge about what is legal as an employee?

We have all heard the financial horror stories facing us due to the actions of those previously responsible for our financial welfare. These actions took place over years with nothing but denial to questions/concerns. From what I've gathered, it appears Union Bay started to go downhill around 2000 when Kensington Island Properties showed up with those dirty little fingers.
Now that I know how involved KIP was - did KIP encourage friends/supporters to run as Trustees and hire like minded folks? Have we actually been governed all these years by Kensington Island Properties Vice President?

The Annapolis Valley town — which is about 137 kilometres west of Halifax — has a population of about 970. It has been struggling for years as it loses people and businesses.
The town borrowed $1 million to build a new water treatment system needed to meet new Nova Scotia drinking water standards. It wanted to double water rates this year.
